The Taketsuru range is labeled as “pure malts”, of which Nikka’s two malt whisky distilleries, Yoichi produces rich, peaty and masculine malt and Miyagikyo soft and feminine mixed on the whisky giving it an elegance with complexity. The whisky gets its distinct aroma and body from direct heating distillation, its pot stills are heated with natural coal done in the traditional method. And these are matured in both ex-bourbon and sherry barrels for a minimum of 21 years.
