Kurayoshi 18 Years Malt Whisky

Kurayoshi is a new whisky brand introduced in April 2016 by Matsui Distillery. The distillery is located in Tottori, a coastal prefecture on southern Honshu. Their whiskies are sold only to the Japanese domestic market, and are characterised by aging with the pure underground waters of Daisen Mountains. At the same site also sits Matsui Breweries, which produces traditional Japanese sake and shochu.

The Kurayoshi Pure Malt 18 Year Old is the best whisky the Matsui distillery has produced to date. Released in April 2016, it has garnered a strong demand, due to its limited production. This Kurayoshi was aged for 18 years and bottled at a rare 50%, to retain the quality and to showcase this whisky in its purest form.

Nose: Malt, bread, rice cereal, lemon zest

Palate: Honey, citrus, candy, light spices and dried straw flavour.

Finish: Tinge of vanilla sweetness, smoky.
