Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a Spring 2014 release by Suntory to present Yamazaki's younger malts, which have been matured in ex-Bordeaux wine casks for three years. To bring out the profound flavours, they are blended with older malts matured in ex-sherry casks (aged around 20 years) and Mizunara (Japanese Oak) casks, which are over 12 years old.
Nose: Honey, vanilla, fragrant strawberries and cherries, citrusy, cinnamon, nutmeg
Palate: Smooth, creamy, white peaches, blackcurrants, tinge of coconut. There is a red berries sweetness balanced with lemon zest and woody notes, with hints of chocolate and nuts.
Finish: Good length, starts off sweet and fruity then the woodiness and gentle spice kicks in.Very clean and impressive finish.
