Kurayoshi Pure Malt Sherry Cask

Kurayoshi is a new whisky brand introduced in April 2016 by Matsui Distillery. The distillery is located in Tottori, a coastal prefecture on southern Honshu. Their whiskies are sold only to the Japanese domestic market, and are characterised by aging with the pure underground waters of Daisen Mountains. At the same site also sits Matsui Breweries, which produces traditional Japanese sake and shochu.

The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky is aged in sherry casks for more than 3 years, resulting in a refined drink that balances the sweetness and acidity very well.

Nose: Sherry, raisins, vanilla

Palate: Caramel, malty, lemongrass

Finish: Bittersweet
